Five years ago from today, Chester Bennington, the lead vocalist of Linkin Park passed away. He served as the voice of the younger generation in many ways. Chester was renowned as an incredibly diversified and talented vocalist, switching from banshee-like screams and delicate nuanced tones within the same track. But despite his talent, Chester Bennington suffered from great trauma that showed up as addiction and depressive outbursts. Unfortunately, this resulted in his death.
More About Chester
Chester was born on March 20, 1976, in Phoenix, Arizona. His early life took a bad turn when he was seven years old and was sexually assaulted by a family friend. The self-confidence was allegedly shattered by this up until the age of 13, as per Metal Hammer.
After some time, Bennington revealed that his father had been abusing him. He did not file a complaint, however, after realizing that his abuser had also experienced abuse. How long and how much Chester’s spirit was afflicted by the inability to find comfort in this anguish is a matter of debate.
When Chester’s parents divorced when he was eleven, forcing him to move in with his father, he had yet another childhood trauma during the period of abuse.
Bennington turned to drug and substance abuse in an attempt to soothe his anguish and loneliness. He began misusing LSD, alcohol, marijuana, opium, and all of these. Chester Bennington had a serious cocaine and methamphetamine addiction by the time he was a teenager.
