Fallout 4 includes more than thirty side quests for players to complete. Those that have completed the main and faction quests still have a ton of content to keep them occupied. In addition to side quests, there are a handful of miscellaneous quests in the game.
The success of Fallout 4 was a result of the uniqueness of each quest, side quest, and faction mission. Bethesda found a way to make every quest a new and rewarding experience. One of the best side quests in the game is the “Silver Shroud”. This guide will cover everything people need to know about the quest, including initiation, key steps, and rewards.
Starting The Quest
In order to initiate the “Silver Shroud” quest, gamers will need to be listening to the Silver Shroud radio in Goodneighbor, which is a section of Boston. Goodneighbor is just to the northeast of the Boston Commons. Eventually, the quest will be added to the quest log.
The first step in the quest is to travel to the Memory Den in Goodneighbor. Players will want to look out for the large Scollay SQ sign that denotes the building. Once inside, gamers will need to speak with an NPC named Kent Connolly.
The Silver Shroud
Connolly is in the Memory Den reliving old memories, one of which was listening to “the Silver Shroud VS Captain Cosmos”. He was an unfortunate victim of radiation burns, and will speak with players about his memories, struggles, and plans to make a positive impact on the Goodneighbor settlement.
Connoly’s principal plan is to revive the Silver Shroud as a symbol of justice. He will reveal that he has already re-created the machine gun and now just needs the genuine Silver Shroud outfit. To continue the quest, players will need to make their way through the dialogue and promise to help. Kent is the nicest NPC in the game and many will feel obligated to help the poor soul out.
The next step is to find Hubris Comics, one of the last locations the Silver Shroud was filmed.
Hubris Comics
The comics store is located to the south of the Amphitheatre and due west of Swan’s pond. The store can blend in to the surrounding buildings, so people will want to look out for the Unstoppables! billboard on the outside of the shop. The Name “Hubris” is in graffiti above the door.
Players will find the photoshoot set up on the third floor. There, the costume will be hanging from a Manikin. Gamers will also want to pick up the submachine gun prop on the top floor for Kent. Because Kent is a kind soul, people will want to grab the Silver Shroud photo next to the second-floor display case and the script on the third floor.
The Silver Survivor
After returning to Kent with the items, he will be overjoyed. Sole survivors that picked up all four items will be given more bottlecaps as a result. Kent will admit that he is not Shroud material and suggest that the player wear the outfit and rid the city of crime. Gamers should accept his offer to be the Shroud and they will receive the armor, as well as the next step in the quest.
The Silver Should Armor has 42/42 resistance and reduces human damage by 15 percent. Kent will want gamers to respond when he reports crimes on the radio station and make sure leave a calling card after each suspect killed.
Wayne Delancy And AJ
The first target of the Silver Shroud is Wayne Delancy. Kent accuses him of murdering a woman and her child. Delancy can be found at the back of Hotel Rexford. If spoken to, Delancy will admit to committing the murder. People can choose how they wish to serve vigilante justice as long as he is killed and a calling card is left on his dead body. Choosing the intimidate as Shroud option will make for hilarious dialogue, especially as a female character.
After tuning into the radio, Kent will reveal the next target named AJ, a suspected drug dealer in the city. The NPC can be found in an alleyway near Bobbi No-Nose’s hideout. AJ and his two bodyguards will offer a bribe, which can be accepted with a high enough persuasion level. True vigilantes will take him and his two minions out, leaving the calling card behind.
Tracking Down Kendra
Shroud’s third target is Kendra, whose location is unknown. Gamers will need to visit the Third Rail and speak with Whitechapel Charlie to get a general idea of her location. Charlie will tell players that she can be found south of Goodneighbor in the Water Street Apartments.
There will be a few Raiders on the bottom floors protecting Kendra. Additionally, there will be a trap at the top of the stairs, so survivors will need to walk through the doorway to the right on the top floor or they will be blown up by rigged explosives or killed by a mounted machine gun turret. Silver Shroud must then kill Kendra, drop the card, and await instructions from Hancock.
John Hancock’s Orders
Hancock will request that Shroud eliminate Smiling Kate and Northy, puppets of the depraved Sinjin. Smiling Kate can be found in Bunker Hill, and Northy has a home in Prospect Hill. Kate will be in the street surrounded by her guards near Bunker Hill. Northy is located on the second floor of a destroyed two-story building in Prospect Hill. Survivors will need to pay both of them a visit and leave the Shroud calling card after the job is done.
Saving Kent
The next time the Silver Shroud Tunes in to the radio, gamers will hear the sound of Kent being abducted by one of Sinjin’s minions. Sinjin will threaten the life of Kent unless the Shroud appears at Milton General Hospital. After entering the Hospital, Sinjin will immediately initiate dialogue with the character.
Threatening as Shroud is, the best method to keep Kent alive. After a couple of threats, Sinjin’s guards will turn on him and he will be an easy headshot using V.A.T.S. The entire experience will scare off Kent, who decides to throw in the towel as a crime-fighting report line operator. Gamers should speak with Hancock, who will offer more bottle caps and a few funny one-liners as well.
Special Delivery For The Shroud
If survivors tune in to the radio after the quest is complete, Kent will request to see them. As a reward for the help, Kent will offer to improve the Silver Shroud Armor. The upgraded armor will have an additional 15 damage resistance with the same 15% special armor effect, making the visit worthwhile.
