Every month, Xbox Game Pass adds new games to its large library, and the program has been a big success for Microsoft thanks to how much it has invested in it. The new games that Xbox Game Pass receives are frequently big titles, many of which are added on the very day they release. These include not only all first-party Xbox games now and in the future, but also popular third-party titles like Back 4 Blood and Outriders.

However, games also have to leave the service every month, and Game Pass is losing a whopping 10 in October. The games have a lot of variety to them, with some even being classic horror titles that subscribers may want to check out before they leave to celebrate Halloween coming around. For any subscribers who try the games and are sad to see them go, they do get a pretty nice discount on the games before they leave the service so that they can keep playing where they left off.

Carto (Console/PC)

Carto is an adventure game that sees players exploring a uniquely styled world and solving world-shaping puzzles to reunite Carto with her family. Along the way, players will come across charming characters that they will befriend and learn about their unique cultures from. It also has a relaxing tone thanks to its quaint music, soft visuals, and laidback pacing. Carto sits around seven hours long, so players still have plenty of time to experience it or at least try it out for themselves before it leaves Xbox Game Pass at the end of the month.

Celeste (Console/PC)

Celeste is one of the most critically acclaimed platformers to release in recent years. It features hundreds of hand-crafted challenges that require tight control, with many of them punishingly difficult. Developed by the creators of TowerFall, Celeste has also been praised for its exploration and representation of mental health struggles as its story follows the trans protagonist Madeline as she climbs a metaphorical mountain to face off against her inner demons on a journey to discover who she really is. The game has also won various awards for its excellent original soundtrack, and many praise Celeste’s unique dialogue system.

Comanche (PC)

Leaving only the PC portion of Xbox Game Pass, Comanche is an action game where players take control of an attack helicopter in either its evolving single-player campaign or team-based multiplayer. Published by THQ Nordic, its campaign is set in an alternative future where every major power in a global conflict has developed a new breed of stealth helicopter that is capable of agile maneuvers and absolute destruction. Comanche also includes a skill-based single-player mode called Conflicts that challenge players to complete a variety of difficult objectives and tasks to earn unique medals and rewards. For multiplayer, the game offers an objective-based attack and defend mode as well as a team deathmatch mode with kill confirmation.

Eastshade (Console/PC)

Eastshade is another tranquil exploration game that lets players travel around a beautifully realized world as a painter. Along their journey, players can put down their easel to capture the scenery, interact with locals, explore cities, and solve ancient mysteries that have almost been completely forgotten. When players paint they can also customize their compositions and can then trade them with other characters for items and crafting materials, which are used throughout quests.

Knights and Bikes (Console/PC)

Knights and Bikes is an adventure game that wonderfully captures the spirit of exploring with one’s friends as a kid. In a way similar to the wonderful RPG Costume Quest, it uses nostalgia and a child’s perspective to craft a unique world filled with whimsy, charm, and wholesome fun. Throughout the game, players can explore, find treasure, customize their bikes, and conquer a number of challenging hazards that get in their way. Even better, the entirety of Knights and Bikes can be played with a friend online or via local co-op so any interested players should definitely bring a friend along for the ride.

Unruly Heroes (Console/PC)

Unruly Heroes is a title for all kung fu fans and lets players play as four different warriors that each have their own playstyle and abilities. When playing alone players can switch between the heroes at any time, but the game can also be played completely in four-player co-op with each controlling just one. It features an entire story filled with boss fights, puzzles, platforming challenges, and dozens of unique enemy types that need to be beaten down. It also includes a full PvP mode for players who want to see who the true king fu master is as well as a photo mode to capture its beautiful graphics and environments.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 1-4 (Console/PC)

For Xbox Game Pass subscribers looking to get into the Halloween spirit, they only have until the end of the month to get in on one of the biggest horror franchises in the industry, Five Nights at Freddy’s. The first four games in the series will be leaving the subscription service, but offer a very unique and simple but effective take on the horror genre. The series also provides a lot of challenges for players who want to complete all of them before they leave, as well as a deep world of lore inspired by a real-world event.

It is a bit unfortunate to see these great games leaving Xbox Game Pass at the end of this month, but there are still plenty of great titles for subscribers to play. Thankfully, Xbox also has some great new games joining Game Pass this month as well, including Dragon Ball FighterZ, Into the Pit, and The Forgotten City.
