Elden Ring is filled with many interesting NPCs, with some having their own questlines. A few of these side-quests are relatively long and elaborate, with multiple steps involving traversing through various locations. Some of these questlines can be missed, but a recent update added NPC markers to Elden Ring’s map so players will no longer have to wander around aimlessly or resort to using a guide.

Dung Eater is perhaps one of the most notable NPCs in Elden Ring. Players will find him in a room filled with corpses at the Roundtable Hold, and unlike other NPCs, he appears as a Red Phantom. Dung Eater is bold and imposing, and his quest is probably one of the most unnerving side missions in the game. He is fully covered in heavy armor, but an Elden Ring player has seemingly found a way to reveal his face.

A user named Evilux has shared an image of what Dung Eater looks like according to his face data. Many players in the comments section think that he looks just like they imagined, with HungLikeAnElf mentioning that his face is similar to someone who graduated years ago and still hangs out with school students. VampireFist jokes about him looking like an average Reddit user, and jerval1981 finds Dung Eater ugly. Many players also think that he looks like a caveman, and it seems like Dung Eater will need to get a haircut to please users on the Elden Ring subreddit.

Players can fight Dung Eater by progressing through his questline in Elden Ring. However, it involves going to a deadly underground sewer area underneath the royal capital, which many consider one of the most challenging dungeons in the game. Players can then take on Dung Eater near Leyndell, but the quest continues, requiring them to complete a few more steps. Upon finishing this quest, they will get his armor known as the Omen Set, which increases the effectiveness of the Omen Bairn item.

Like the Dark Souls games, players can kill NPCs in Elden Ring, although some of the more important ones have a shield around them. While NPCs are usually killed for a specific item they drop, it can also happen by accident. Millicent is probably the most well-known example of this, as some players have been accidentally jumping on her, killing her right at the end of her quest.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
