Australian video game and entertainment software retailer EB Games (owned by GameStop) is seemingly going through a rough patch. Despite being one of the country’s most popular video game chains, EB Games is set to shut down at least 19 of its stores in the coming weeks.

The sad news is being circulated to the EB Games customers through an email, which also informs them about the stock wide sale before closing. As per reports, a discount of 20-60% will be offered on all items at the affected stores.

As can be seen in the image above, the first EB Games outlet to shut down is the Majura Park in the ACT which will be closing on January 25, 2020. Stores at New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia will follow.

While that’s the bad part, they further add during this year, the company plans to open up bigger stores at different locations in the country. Here’s how they put it.

Customers are of course curious after hearing the shut down news. And to clam them down, EB Games Australia (@EBGamesAus) is telling something similar to users on Twitter, i.e. the stores are being shut only to come up with new mega stores during this year.
