Dusty Crum, star of “Guardians of the Glades,” was engaged in a terrifying car accident in Florida… and he was at severe risk of losing his right leg.
Last month, he was riding shotgun in a truck on a Florida highway when a tyre on the trailer blew and the driver lost control, forcing the truck to fishtail before crashing three times, according to the snake hunter from Discovery.
Dusty claims the incident severely damaged his lower right leg and knee, and he was taken to a hospital in the Fort Meyers area, where surgeons utilized five different surgical techniques to preserve his leg.
It’s quite terrifying… When the car flipped, Dusty claims his window cracked, and his leg flew out the window and was crushed by the vehicle’s weight. He claims he was able to pull his leg back inside as the vehicle continued to roll.
Dusty claims he felt he was going to die after the collision, and that he tried to stay awake by using his shirt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding while waiting for paramedics on the side of the highway.
Despite the fact that surgeons were able to save Dusty’s leg, he’s remained in the hospital for about four weeks… and he’ll be transferring to a rehab facility in the coming days.
Dusty is uninsured and will be saddled with a mountain of medical expenses, so a buddy has set up a GoFundMe page and is asking people to consider purchasing holiday items from his store.
Dusty is grateful for two things: that he is alive and that he has both legs.
