Developed and published by Valve, Defense of the Ancients 2, popular known as DOTA 2 is a MOBA video game. Originally designed as a mod for Warcraft III, it is a 5v5 game that encourages players to fight against one another.
While the game itself is completely free-to-play, DOTA 2 players often buy skins, battle pass, and loot boxes. It runs on Valves’ in-house developed Source 2 engine.
The developers frequently update the game that introduces new heroes, events, or brings in balance changes. However, some of these are problematic and often cause trouble for players.
DOTA 2 crashing
Having said that, DOTA 2 players are now reporting (1,2,3,4) that the game is crashing randomly for them after the recent 7.31 update. Many suggest that their game is crashing multiple times during a match, making it impossible to play efficiently.
Some say that the problem is making them lose since the enemy gets more XP because they crash quite often. This is a really serious issue since farming is the key to victory in DOTA 2.
You can see in the image below one of the error messages DOTA 2 players are getting before the game crashes.
DOTA 2 FPS drops
As it turns out, those who can run the game normally are not happy as well. Many players say (1,2,3,4) they are experiencing FPS drops after the 7.31 update.
Generic solutions such as reinstalling the game, updating display drivers, and limiting FPS do not seem to help at all.
Unfortunately, DOTA 2 developers are yet to acknowledge the crashing and FPS drop issues. Rest assured, we will be keeping tabs on the matter and update this space once we have more information so stay tuned for updates.
