Original story (published on June 04, 2021) follows:
The next version of Android, Android 12, is upon us for the most part. At Google I/O 2021, Google took the wraps off the Android 12 Beta 1 for its Pixel devices.
Granted, this is a developmental build that is meant to showcase features that are set to come in stable release while building on the stability, which means that these builds should be functional.
Cryptocurrency is the new craze on the internet, attracting millions of users hoping to get rich quickly by investing their money in the many available coins.
One platform that is pretty popular among these users is Crypto.com. To recall, this isn’t the first time we’ve talked about this platform. More on that here.
If you’re a frequent user of the Crypto.com app on your Pixel device, you might want to think twice before updating your device to the Android 12 Beta 1 build.
Reports coming in indicate that this app just doesn’t work on the Android 12 build available.
Understandably, this issue is causing a lot of frustrations to users who updated their Pixel devices to this pre-stable version of Android 12 and many have taken to various platforms to vent their frustrations.
This bug has since been forwarded to the development team and a Google admin says that we should get info as it becomes available.
Such issues are not uncommon with new versions of Android. This could be due to compatibility issues with the underlying SDK caused by the app developer not updating their app on time, or simply a bug with the new Android version.
Either way, we still don’t have official communication from either party and it would be wise for any Pixel user that is invested in Crypto.com to hold off for a few more months, or until this is resolved.
We shall continue to keep an eye on this issue and update as and when we get more info so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb. Also, we have a dedicated Android 12 bug tracker and you can check it out here for more.
