Puzzles disguised as complex magical mechanisms have been a feature in countless fantasy RPG games over the years, though they take many different forms depending on the game that they are found within.
In Divinity: Original Sin 2, players will sometimes get faced with challenges that they will have no idea how to deal with until they do some more exploring and find pieces to puzzles found far from each other. This forces gamers to explore the rich and vibrant world and as many of its nooks and crannies as one dares to venture through for treasure.
One obstacle that can block the player’s path is the tricky and mysterious Lunar Shrine and its puzzle-locked magical barrier. While there isn’t too much information to go on for those who stumble across this location randomly, there are some things that the player can do to get through this mystical gate without too many issues.
How To Open The Gate Of The Lunar Shrine
Step 1 - Activate The Switch On The Floor Next To The Lever
While the hint can be subtle due to it being hard to see from certain camera angles, there is a lightning bolt upon a tile-like switch near the magical barrier and a lever. With a little bit of guesswork and some knowledge of how this game works, players can figure out that they are supposed to introduce some sort of electricity to this tile in hopes of activating something. This can be done in any number of ways, thanks to the versatility of overworld spell and weapon use in this wonderfully organic game, however, after the electricity is applied is when the next step needs to be taken.
Step 2 - Use The Pillars In The Correct Order To Prime The Lever
Adventurers can find clues as to the order in which to activate the pillars or use trial and error methods to solve this part of the puzzle by brute force, however, the former method is a fair deal faster. The order in which one needs to activate the pillars is as follows: the Lizard Pillar, then the Human Pillar, and then finally the Orc Pillar.
Step 3 - Pull The Lever To Drop The Magical Barrier
After the three specified pillars have been activated in the correct order, players can pull the lever in front of the gate, which will drop the light blue barrier of magic and will allow for the player and their party to proceed.
Ways To Activate The Floor Switch With Electricity
Using Spells
Players can light up the floor switch before the magical barrier of the Lunar Shrine with spells that can normally shock foes, such as many that do Air-type damage and pertain to lightning or shooting similar kinds of energy, however, if one’s party does not have such a mage, there are other methods available.
Using Weapons
Those with a weapon capable of unleashing Air-type damage, such as the Eternal Stormblade, can also be used for a similar effect. Conveniently, the Eternal Stormblade can be found north of the Lunar Shrine in a cave along The Nameless Isle’s rocky coast.
Using Items
There are even items that can be used for this feat, such as the Phase Capacitors that can be found in various areas and picked up. Simply move one of these energy containers loaded with electricity from one’s inventory onto the floor switch to power it up. A few Phase Capacitors can be found north of the Lunar Shrine, in the same cave where one can obtain the Eternal Stormblade.
