Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek apologise for not condemning the “Don’t Say Gay bill”

A few weeks before, Florida Senate passed ” Don’t say, Bill”. In which teaching grade 3 children about Sex orientation is prohibited. To this LGBTQ activists slammed the decision saying that erasing the presence of the LGBTQ community from lessons implies students should be ashamed or suppress the gender identity or sexual orientation. On the other hand, RepublicianFlorida state Rep claimed that the bill would not prohibit people from discussing Gender identity and sexual orientations but it would ban curriculum and lessons on it.

Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek told the board of directors that he will be giving donations to the  LGBTQ community but not directly condemn this bill ” Don’t say gay”. Social media reacted on Twitter with #BoycottDisney.

the fact this pivot happened IMMEDIATELY after being called-out means – when we look away – they’ll return to donating to #DontSayGay & other nefarious causes.

it’s probably too much to #BoycottDisney because we’re so hungry for the #MCU and animations, but maybe #BoycottDisney. pic.twitter.com/VcenaccsVK

Today, He apologized by saying, ” Speaking with you have helped me better understand how painful our silence was. It is clear that this is not just about a bill in Florida, but instead yet another challenge to basic human rights. You needed to be a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights and I let you down and I am sorry.”

He added, ” I missed the mark in this case but am an ally you can count on and I will be an outspoken champion for the protections, Visibility and opportunity you deserve. It is noted that the donation he decided to give has been cancelled as the company received pushback from the employees over its lack of response.

Some of the people are protesting against #BoycottDisney

I see #BoycottDisney is trending from the LGBTQIA+ community. These people have their priorities wrong. Disney+ are all pedophiles and they should go down for the right reasons not the wrong reasons. pic.twitter.com/SuTsYZwCO9
