Discord is one of the most popular messaging services available. More than just a messaging service, Discord is a communication and interaction platform full of possibilities.
Users can access Discord through the website or through dedicated apps. The service offers various customization options to adjust the UI to your liking.
One of the Discord customization options available is the Overlay settings. However, this particular option is currently experiencing an issue.
More specifically, according to multiple reports, Discord Overlay settings are not changing or revert to default (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).
Discord Overlay settings issues: not changing or revert to default
There is currently a glitch in the Discord Overlay settings that causes options to be unclickable for users.
Also, for some the Discord Overlay settings reverted to default by themselves, without the user changing anything.
I’m unable to change any of the radio buttons or which corner of the screen notifications appear on under settings -> activity settings -> game overlay. When I click the other options nothing changes – they’re just unselectable. I can interact with the “enable in-game overlay” and “show text chat notifications” toggles.
I am on Windows 11 and Stable 124397 (2bf79b5) of the app. I’ve reinstalled Discord, disabled developer mode and rebooted to no avail. Source
I’m trying to play something, and when you switch between accounts it resets your discord overlay settings. I recently switch between my accounts, and when I went back in to edit my overlay settings, they cant be edited. I try to click on them but it won’t change. Source
According to reports, everything affected users have tried failed to resolve the issue. Not even a complete uninstall and reinstall of the app/client seems to help.
Discord team is looking into the glitch
The Discord team is already aware of the issue in question and is investigating. At the moment, there are no details on an estimated arrival date for a fix that will return the situation to normal.
We will update this story once new events related to it arise.
