On Sunday, during the last rituals of Late Shri Lata Mangeshkar, many prominent Indians were there to attend the last rituals including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Maharastra Cheif minister Uddhav Thackeray, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and actor Aamir Khan.

Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan also had arrived like others to pay his last tribute to the legendary singer at Shivaji Park. During this time a video went viral, in which he read dua next to the mortal remains of Lata Tai, where many people questioned about Shah Rukh being spitting near the mortal, including many big politicians such as Haryana’s BJP technology in-charge Arun Yadav, and Bollywood film producer Priya Gupta.

Here is what actually happened, as Khan stepped on the stage along with his manager Pooja Dadlani to bid a final goodbye to Tai, he raised his hands in dua and then took off his mask blows air. He folded his hand’s ad encircled her body to pay respects. The act of blowing air after the dua had  been falsely interpreted as him “spitting”

Fact Check:

According to Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Jodhpur’s professor Akhtaru Wasey, he can’t tell which prayer Khan was reciting, but the gesture of blowing air after reading a dua is traditional Islamic practice during funerals.” When a Muslim attends the last rites of a near one, they read a prayer and then blow air, just as Shah Rukh Khan did. This shouldn’t be seen in a wrong way” says Wasey.

Hence the above rumour is false.
