There is a new glitch in Battlefield 2042 that allows players to be completely invisible. Battlefield 2042 is a bit of a technical mess, so another bug shouldn’t be much of a surprise. However, DICE is working on improving the first-person shooter, and this invisible problem is already being addressed.
The 2021 fall multiplayer space is quite competitive, with games like Call of Duty: Vanguard, Halo Infinite, and Battlefield 2042 all vying for the attention of multiplayer shooter players. Battlefield 2042 is a sandbox experience that allows players to drive tanks, climb on top of skyscrapers, and dive from building to pull off one-of-a-kind and memorable plays. But it is also a bit of a messy game. One recent glitch allowed a player to pull off an amazing Battlefield 2042 clip without them really even trying.
Reddit user u/sterrre recently uploaded a clip to r/battlefield2042 that is perplexing at first blush. The player spawns on a friendly MAV and starts destroying enemies with no issue whatsoever, making it seem like they are playing a game on easy mode. U/sterrre shoots enemies with their LMG, pistol, and executes enemies from behind right in front of seemingly countless adversaries. But it turns out that enemies could not see the player, as there was some sort of bug where the Battlefield 2042 player was invisible. Thankfully, a community manager has confirmed that the issue will be addressed with update 3.1.
The community manager made sure to thank the Battlefield 2042 player for reporting the issue, as it is helpful for gamers to bring light to issues such as these. In fact, the community itself has become a live games as a service QA tester of sorts for games like Apex Legends, Battlefield 2042, and Call of Duty: Warzone. There are theories that this is why the Raven Software QA developers were laid off by Activision recently (because they are in some ways no longer needed).
Still, it is frustrating to play multiplayer games that are released in such a semi-broken state. Battlefield 2042 was flooded with negative user reviews when it launched thanks partially to the game being so glitch-ridden. Additionally, new updates with fresh content often bring about new issues. One would hope that games and updates are released with more polish and that the player base doesn’t have to be the beta testers, but that appears to be the current reality in the multiplayer space.
Battlefield 2042 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
