Ever since their introduction in 2018, Bungie has added many catalysts to Destiny 2’s suite of exotic weapons, but many other exotics still haven’t gotten one. However, Bungie is planning on adding a catalyst to a particular exotic from the Black Armory DLC.

In late 2018, Bungie released the Black Armory, Destiny 2’s first ever season, bringing a host of new gear and exotic weapons. Since then, Izanagi’s Burden received a catalyst, and now the Le Monarque exotic bow is finally going to get one as well.

While on the Destiny Massive Breakdown podcast, Bungie’s staff designer, Chris Proctor, answered a number of questions regarding Destiny 2’s sandbox and how certain aspects of the weapons functioned. Interestingly, at the very end of the podcast, one of the hosts asked him when will the Le Monarque exotic bow will get a catalyst to which Proctor answered “soon.” Proctor did not give any other details out about the catalyst besides the fact that players can expect to see one soon. Additionally, he did not specify how soon it will come, whether it’s coming in the Witch Queen expansion or in a future season.

Le Monarque is an exotic bow introduced in the Black Armory DLC, and it functions similarly to Thorn, another exotic primary in Destiny 2. On a perfect draw, shots will poison enemies on hit, dealing damage over time, and shots that are precision hits explode and spread the poison effect to other enemies. Because of how powerful the poison effect is and how easily players can spread it, Le Monarque is a strong option in Destiny 2’s PVE modes. In fact, the poison effect in the Crucible stops guardians from regenerating their health for a period of time, making this bow surprisingly powerful in PVP.

As far as everyone knows, Bungie’s current plan is to bring a catalyst for only one exotic from the Black Armory’s arsenal, so players wanting a catalyst for the Jotunn fusion rifle or Anarchy grenade launcher might be disappointed. However, Bungie can still bring them their catalysts in the future.

While fans will still have to wait for their favorite exotic weapon to receive its own catalyst, many players may rejoice over Le Monarque’s catalyst. No one knows what it will do to the bow, but if the catalyst is as useful as the Forerunner’s catalyst, then players may be pleasantly surprised by what Bungie has in store.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
