The internet has speculated that a viral video footage of a young woman being beaten up is Zendaya, but based on the visual evidence we’ve seen, it’s most certainly BS.
This video went viral over the weekend… it’s 7 seconds in length and depicts someone wailing on this poor girl within what appears to be a store. After hitting the woman, they kicked her, throwing her flying back and smacking her head against a wall.
Indeed, it’s extraordinarily savage — and, as far as we can tell, there’s no context to indicate where or when this occurred, who was responsible, or even why.
Folks think they saw someone who looks like Zendaya in this video, at least based on the few views of this girl’s face. Yes, it does look a little like the actress, especially in the moments from ‘Euphoria.’
Again, there’s no way of knowing when this was taken — or even if it’s Zendaya at all, to be honest — but FWIW, Z doesn’t have this length of hair right now, as evidenced by recent paparazzi images of her out and about in Massachusetts.
Her footwear is also distinct from what is seen in the video: rainbow-colored Crocs. Zendaya is wearing sneakers… She has stated publicly that she will only wear tennis shoes or heels, with little in between. According to what we could discover, Zendaya has never been photographed wearing Crocs.
The bottom line is that there’s no conclusive evidence that this is Zendaya, yet she’s currently trending on Twitter because others believe it is. Whether you like Zendaya or not, individuals who tease her are conveying the improper message, according to others.
Even if it’s just a lookalike, many people regard the filming and recirculating of an abuse on a woman of color as a troubling trend, with this being the latest example.
Zendaya’s agency has been contacted for comment. She hasn’t said anything about it yet, but if it isn’t her, it’s worth debunking… because this is spreading like wildfire.
