He perished in a car accident near the Delhi border, where farmers had been protesting for a year against three controversial farm policies. When the tragedy occurred, he was travelling in a private vehicle with a friend from the United States. His body was taken to Sonipat, Haryana, for a post-mortem examination. According to reports, his Scorpio collided with a parked truck, but his co-passenger was unharmed.

On Republic Day 2021, he was detained in connection with the violence at Red Fort during a farmers’ tractor rally. Cops also arrested him for making insulting statements about the SC/ST category. He was charged for violating the SC/ST Act.
